In a word: MUHUHAHAHA!

If one good thing came out of this, it would have to be that Jen Davidson knows she was genuinely missed.

This is one of those days where I am utterly sure of a just God...

Right on, Bob, if it were planned, this couldn't have worked out better! What an amazing Olympics this is turning out to be - just full of surprises.

# 3. 2/21/02 6:06 AM by Tom Dey - Springwater, NY
The good gals won. When one of a crew of two fires the other, the word "team" is stripped of meaning. The Olympics is about teamwork and world-class sprotsmanship, not ego or politics. Failure on either count seems to justly bring on "the agony of defeat".

As I have reached the half-century mark, the old adage of 'You reap what you sow'becomes so evident.

Bob: You seem to be super human when you report a human interest story, job well done. In response, there's this saying that God does unusual things His wonders to perform? However it's worded, I believe that's what happened, just exactly as it should have.

# 6. 2/21/02 7:36 AM by Bob Parmele - Clifton Springs, NY
I think this is the first time I have ever rooted against an American athlete at the Olympics. I was happy with the outcome. Seems that good guys (and gals) do win sometimes. Turncoats never do!!

# 7. 2/21/02 7:37 AM by Doug - Leicester
Well said Bob. We need more justice in the world.

# 8. 2/21/02 7:38 AM by Rose - Rochester, NY
I certainly hope Jen Davidson is more forgiving than you are!

In the meantime, hats off to Vonetta Flowers and Jill Bakken!! Great job!

# 9. 2/21/02 7:50 AM
If you really believe that karma statement, and you really are as awful a person as you make yourself out to be sometimes, isn't that one more motivator to change your evil ways?

Be strong. Do right.

Editor's Note: I'll do right when I'm in my grave.

# 10. 2/21/02 8:38 AM by Mike - Webster, NY
What goes around comes around, I'm only sorry that Jen Davidson didn't have time to find another driver and find herself on the podium too!

My look at this "Fine Mess" that Jean Racine got herself into can be stated in two words, "POETIC JUSTICE!" She deserves what she got!

# 12. 2/21/02 10:13 AM by Forrest - Lehi, UT
I wanted Jean to lose almost as much as I wanted the American mens basketball team to lose in Sidney.

# 13. 2/21/02 10:15 AM by Jason - Silver Spring, Md.
Aww, c'mon, Bob... You don't know for sure that Jean Racine would have won. If she had won, would you have praised her for having the cojones for making tough, unpopular choices?

It is a sport, after all. People get cut from teams all the time. I'm not a feminist by any means, but I have to wonder if much criticism is directed at her because firing a friend is unladylike.

# 14. 2/21/02 10:27 AM by Bill Both - Salt Lake City
Well Bob, you are right! But I noticed that you had misspelled something. You said that Jean Racine was a witch. That should have been a "B" instead of a "W". Jean ranks right up there with the former 1st lady of this country in the "witch" column. I have never been glad that an American lost in the Olympics but I was very glad that this "witch" lost and lost just short of the "who gives a crap about" Bronze. Maybe if she had integrity she would have won the Gold but she wint home with "It is not if you win or loose, it is that you were here." I call that "you get smack" GOOD too bad she did not roll her sled.

I can't say Amen loud enough.

In the words of the great philosopher, Nelson from the Simpsons, HA HA.

Yeah, that was sweet, sweet justice. In your face, Jean.

Thank you for writing what we all think. You're awesome.

Right on Bob! Cheers arouse from our house when Ms. Racine didn't win her gold. The adage about Payback being a b**** couldn't be more true. However the story doesn't end there. The Salt Lake Tribune had a story this morning about how Ms Racine called Ms. Flowers on Sunday trying to lure her out of Jill Bakken's sled into her sled. I am so thankful that Ms. Flowers had the loyalty to tell Jean Racine where to go.

She lost gold the day she showed the tarnish in her heart. We usually do make what we earn. We always live with the choices we make. When winning and losing is a matter of hundredths of seconds, the winning is done in the mind, in the attitude. This girl forgot that (or never knew it) and thought she could gain that advantage with someone else's ability. That alone says she's no Olympian. Score this one a big win.

Bob,

I appreciate your morning radio show and enjoy your positions. Regarding the many comments you have made about Rocky Anderson (I can't attached the title Honorable to his name!), I came across an editorial in the Adirondack Daily Enterprise, February 11, 2002 which tells it so very well. (www.adirondackguide.com) If you haven't seen the editorial I would recommend it, you may even know the writer. Why can't the voters of SLC wake up and see what is so apparent to even a stranger from New York!

Thanks - Mike

Bob, Just listening to the comments on day care and I am reminded of my time in the Women's Army Corps. My boss had five children and the Housing Section had a two bedroom unit available. He explained to me "the Army is not responsible for the fertility of its members." Same principle; why should I be responsible for day care. My kids are my responsibility. I need to have as many jobs as it takes to care, feed and educate my family. Reparation? I am a 'pound puppy' and have no idea who my ancestors are or what they did. I expect I didn't fall too far from the tree and I try very hard to follow the Golden Rule.

Thank you Bob for stating the truth and teaching us all a lesson about loyalty and leadership. A leader of a team has a responsibility. This responsibility is owed to the team. It is a team that wins a team event. We now have a perfect example that one person does not a team make. Bob

I agree Jean Racine got what she deserved. The team that did win from the US, I hope they get endorsements from everywhere. They are a class act.

I have enjoyed the Olympics on tv. I will be sad when they end. But Survivor is back in a week from today. Hurray.

I too am encouraged by the fact that she had to eat this one. My hope for her would be that once she has had a chance to digest things, she is filled with a greater understanding. I believe things happen in life for a reason - though sometimes, people miss the bigger lesson to be learned because they refuse to open their eyes and hearts and genuinely see. If she reflects on her actions, learns the lesson, it changes her, and she is bettered by this - then that is all to the good and will be her greatest reward. If not, then that would be the real failing - not just the the loss of some medal. For the things that are truly golden in life manifest themselves in many ways and she will only end up depriving herself of those greater riches.

Thanks Bob for taking away my guilt. I thought I was the only person in the U.S., adamantly rooting against Jean Racine. Now to fill my comment with cliches, "I was able to have my cake and eat it too", when Bakkens and Flowers won. Some members of the U.S. Olympic team are showing us that the "the wrong shall fail and the right prevail". Or in the case of our intoxicated driving friends, "you can take away my grandpa but you'll never take away my spirit to compete and win."

# 26. 2/22/02 2:56 AM
and then, did you hear, that after Gea Johnson got hurt, Jean Racine called Vonetta Flowers and tried to lure her away to be on her team, saying that she would be the gold medalist if Flowers changed teams to be with her - and Flowers did the right thing and told Racine her team would beat Racine anyway. So, not only does Racine lack a gold medal, she continues to lack integrity and sportmanship.

How many of our problems of social responsibility, ethics and morality can be attributed to GREED???? I wish every responsible citizen in the USA could receive your opinions. To bad that we are in the minority.
