thumbsup.gif Here's Obama's plan as it will be played:

1) Obama will get us all angry at the banks so he can boost his poll numbers, and

2) the banks will pay the fines and fees and pass the costs to their customers.....

FUBOs forever!

thumbsup.gif Comrade Lonsberry,

I don't get it. I've never blamed the banks for all the economic turmoil, but do blame the hundreds of thousands of individuals who over-extended themselves with excessive loans (mortgages), over-spending, over-eating, and trying to live beyond their means. Fault the individual, not the bank.

Actually, I think any banker or investor who is managing hundreds of millions of dollars and makes a good return on those investments deserves a million dollar bonus.

When Dictator O'Bama decides to go after the multi-million dollar atheletes, who seem to spend much of their money on tatoos, and who get million dollar bonus checks, then we're on to something. What do they do to earn their money - do they invest millions with tremendous stress day to day??

May 2012 come quickly. God Help Us until he's run out of town on a rail.

thumbsup.gif So much for checks and balances. We are supposed to have 3 branches of government, but they all seem to have become as corrupt as their neighbor.

People who were elected to be the "watchmen on the tower" are deafenly silent. Who is watching out for us....really?

And while we all huddle around the TV to be kept appraised of the catasrophe in Haiti, as you said, Obama is robbing the banks...and you and me.

# 5. 1/15/10 12:40 AM
I remembering asking a banker when I was growing up if they are government owned. Dumb question.

Do have many regulations. However I cannot figure out why they are required to close on holidays such as Martin Luther King day or Columbus Day. Credit unions are not.

That is money they lose out on not opened on those days. And have to pay employees who don't show up to work. I would not want to work on Christmas or Thanksgiving or the 4th myself. However they should not be required to close on the very minor holidays.

thumbsup.gif So we just keep writing the representatives that only represent their own agenda. Meanwhile we peacefully stand by and helplessly watch our country and way of life spiral with increasing speed, irrecoverably, down the drain....

I may be naive, foolish, and outright stupid; but something's rotten in the "state" of citi-state banking. (In old, New Amsterdam)

I'm watching this self-righteous take-over of our economy with the same sickly awe that the images from Haiti instill. Ironically Haiti suffers a completely corrupt government and then a ground zero earthquake. Yet right next door the Dominican Republic flourishes - economically-sound as Cuba before the communist revolution and miraculously untouched by the devastation. What happened to Haiti can happen to us; the administration seems to be intentionally, inexorably driving us straight into the eye of the storm.

thumbsup.gif Hey Bob, With every step Mr Obama leads us into ruin. I hope the people open their eyes and ears and remember what he is doing. Let us hope the next President can undo what the current leadership is doing. If he gets a second term then we only reinforce his assumption that he is right. Can you imagine where he will go and what he would do in a second term?

This is really ugly, even for you.

This kind of hate has consequences. I hope you believe every word, and that you're ready to accept responsibility for the damage you and your ilk are doing to the country.

Good luck.

Editor's Note: it does have consequences. perhaps you democrats will find the first one on tuesday, sort of a foreshadowing of november.

# 13. 1/15/10 6:40 AM by Fred Calcagno - Honeoye Falls NY
Dear Bob, I think the real responsibility for our current crisis rests on the shoulders of irresponsible ineffective government. Lets place the fee on every elected official in the country. We'll call it "governmental crisis responsibility fee". The citizens should reduce by 5% the pay, benefits and staff, of every elected official. The reduction would be repeated every three months until either results are displayed or political positions become volunteer work where you serve the country not pillage it.

# 14. 1/15/10 6:45 AM by Poplar Beach
Take from the rich give to the poor, Barack Obama is either Robin Hood, or a socialist. I have never seen him in a green pointy hat.

Wow, this is hope and change; if you are a street hawker hoping someone will put some change in your cup, Obama may make it illegal to walk by without donating. No different, no more outrageous than this bank tax.

Even the democrats, at least those who are self supporting, must be looking at the FUBO stuff with a wry grin these days.

# 18. 1/15/10 7:03 AM
Obama's America, conceived in envy and dedicated to the proposition that all men (except the ruling class) have equal. A political party and an administration based on one of the seven deadly sins can't lead anywhere good.

thumbsdown.gif Komrade:

You fail to understand simple economic principle. Supreme Leader Obama needs money to fund Glorious Acorn Revolution. E-mail appeal from David Plouffe failed. Confiscation works better.

You will learn about this and more at re-education camp.

# 20. 1/15/10 7:46 AM by Rick C. - Rochester,NY 14610
I am wondering if George W.Bush had to ask the Self Appointed Leader of The Republicant Party Rush Limbaugh for permission to accept President Obamas request for him to join President Bill Clinton in helping the earthquake victims in Haiti?

# 21. 1/15/10 7:47 AM by jaymor
And there's more to come. Before Obama is out of office we'll see excess profit taxes, wage and price controls, and nationalization of big oil. And all from that institution that originated the credit meltdown in its ill-advised quest for "affordable housing for all".

# 22. 1/15/10 7:49 AM by Doug
thumbsup.gif I see it's the Banks fault that the government forced them to give loans to people that could not afford it.

I don't see why the welfare people hate the working people. If I didn't work and have half of what I make taken by the government they wouldn't even be able to eat dinner tonight.

# 23. 1/15/10 7:52 AM
Everything will be passed on to the people. The working man will end up paying.

# 24. 1/15/10 7:56 AM by Andy - Rochester, NY
thumbsdown.gif The banks stole money from me and everyone else in America. The banks got our bailout money to provide loans in order to keep the economy going. Instead so many of these greedy jerks used our money to prop up their balance sheets and give themselves record bonuses. The profits driving those bonuses are purely fraudulent. This is robbery and deception and I want my money back!

Bob, you are a nonobjective partisan.

Editor's Note: actually, i am a patriot and you, like your president, are a bolshevik.

thumbsup.gif Help me out here, why isn't there one senator or congressman that doesn't know this is wrong? Why won't one elected person stand up to this monster? I believe more and more every day it's time for a revolution. Our system does not work! God help us.

# 26. 1/15/10 8:13 AM by Dominic - Spencerport, NY
How does Capt. Transparency and his equally corrupt Legislative Branch explain their break to the unions on so-called Cadillac healthcare plans?

What small fraction of the workforce is unionized? And uh... what kind of over the top benefits do they get? And.. what socialist party do they support and align with? Guess that meeting with SEIU, AFL-CIO, and UAW leaders worked - all they had to do was whimper and democraps patted their little heads and said, "..it's ok honey mama still luuuuvs you." Who else is getting a payoff on this deal?

Think of it this way: I've donated twice so far to Haiti relief, and will do so again on Sunday. Why, through my subsidizing contributions should I also be paying for union relief as well? Someone 'splain it to me, since I'm not a socialist these things just don't make sense to me. Maybe someone who grew up in Communist Russia can sort it out.

Late last night we also hear from stretchface Pelosi that the final negotiated bill will be made available (for the first time) to the opposition party and the general public for all of 72 hours before voting on it. WELL, isn't that just gracious....

"The banks which fuel the economy of our nation"?

More like "the banks that used to fuel the economy of our nation until most of the biggest, most important ones ran amok with stupidity and greed".

That doesn't mean it is right for the government to take billions from them. But you ran a column of Teddy Roosevelt quotes the other day, and I am pretty sure TR would have regarded them as "malefactors of great wealth".

# 31. 1/15/10 8:52 AM by Rational Rod - CANADA
thumbsdown.gif You had better get a grip, Bob, before you slip into Glenn Beck madness, and headline your next column "Obama eats babies." You have, in effect, declared war on your president, or perhaps your government. And, tragically, like in all the wars, especially your most recent ones (see nonexistent WMDs and other Bush lies), truth is the first casualty. The financial system may thrive on greed but people don't. You and alot of your fellow travelers say the government's role is to protect its citizens so why all the caterwauling when it does just that? And where is that mythical "free market"? Obviously not anywhere in the home of the brave and the land of the greed. If you are so terrified of the coming revolution perhaps you could help Obama stop the looting and address the disparities (e.g., income gap) in your economy. Peace - not triumphalism.

Editor's Note: obama and i won't be on the same side of the coming revolution, che.

# 32. 1/15/10 8:58 AM by Jeff - Midvale
To #14... No, Obama is not Robin Hood. Robin Hood took from the people collecting taxes and gave to the poor. Robin Hood would be taking from him.

In these troubled times we all struggle to keep the jobs we have and pay the bills we owe. Obama does this by decree.

# 33. 1/15/10 9:00 AM
Before we condemn either the banks or the president, I would like to have the answer to one question: Where is the money being used to pay the exhorbitant bonuses actually coming from? If it is coming straight from the bailout money, then I have a very strong objection.....if it is coming from genuine profits generated from the banks' newfound stability (as a result of the bailout money being wisely invested by the banks and paid back to the government), then I might not object.....but that does lead to another question - how did the banks come by all these profits seemingly so quickly, and do these "investments" on their part spell any financial debacles in the future for us ordinary folks? From what I have heard and read, the banks are still being tight with lending, especially to small businesses who want to borrow and grow. I am very skeptical, and I have come to have a very healthy distrust of the banks and Wall Street in general.

thumbsdown.gif JP Morgan doubled its profit last year, and set aside $26.9 BILLION for compensation (up 18%).

JP Morgan average employee salaries are $129,000; average for its investment bankers is $380,000.

Tell me again just what value those investment bankers produced for society last year?

Stick your "bolshevik" stuff up your butt. These are the entities that put the rest of us into unemployment and foreclosure, not the government.

You just don't see the forest for the trees.

# 38. 1/15/10 9:42 AM
Dang, after reading this column I expected to see a "Buy Gold" at the end.

What are you copying Glenn Beck's "all is lost with Obama and the Democrats" harangue? Can't blame you if you are, Beck has a big following of the timid "I crapped my pants" crowd.

You wrote "Even though several banks have paid back their TARP money years early and with full interest".....what interest is that Bob? These banks don't pay any interest on anything borrowed from the government. WE pay interest to your buddies the banks. You know, those 30% credit card interest fees many people are forced to pay.

As I read your column all I kept thinking was what you would have wrote in defense of the robber barons of the early 1900's.

America in the last decade demanded that Haiti do away with any form of government that would interfer with private groups that took to running the country. We, the United States of America imposed what the right wing in America has always wanted, very limited government and freedom for the private sector---imposed it on Haiti. It took away all government protection of the people and stopped or drastically cut back "aide" AKA welfare for Haiti. The GOP conservative dream was installed in Haiti.

The country is a failed country of epic proportions.

The right wing in America wants America to become Haiti. Very little government and rule by private groups AKA corporations. By the way, a corporation is defined as a non-person whose sole purpose for being is to make money. Corpoations do not exist for mankind, it exists to make money, period.

Very sad column Bob, very sad. Very disappointed in your suck-up to the rich. Is it contract time?

Editor's Note: my contract is with the constitution, which your imam regularly wipes his butt with.

Comment on the todays commentaries:

Not much new, the right wing tribe is standing pat with their hate government praise big biz and the military.

The military-industrial complex is alive and well in the American right wing.

I wonder if we can tap into Dwight Eisenhowsers grave for energy---he's gotta be spinning fast enough to electrify half of Virginia.

# 42. 1/15/10 9:57 AM
Editor's Note: it does have consequences. perhaps you democrats will find the first one on tuesday, sort of a foreshadowing of november.

And of course winning is everything...except when Democrats win, in which case it's the 47 percent who voted for the other guy whose views matter most. Right, Bob?

Brown will win. And it won't make him, or you, right about anything.

You're wrecking the country. Have fun.

thumbsdown.gif Your analogies are really special – “When you attack my bank, you attack me.” So then this is also true: “When you attack my sleazy used car salesman, you attack me”. We expect our government to be looking out for us. That’s what Obama is doing. Your hate is so irrational you’ve become barking mad. You should go on vacation for a while, take some time off, relax & get some rest.

There are sometimes bad & incompetent people running our greatest capital institutions. We need to have something to keep that element in check. But you only see Marxists behind every tree. It is you who have become a danger, because you have a powerful pulpit from which to spew. So take a break – please.

Editor's Note: actually, americans expect their government to get out of the way. we can look out for ourselves. and if i'm dangerous, you and your ilk are going to have to find a way to get rid of me. my advice would be to shoot from behind, you've got a better chance of surviving that way.

Let me first say that I wholeheartedly agree with you. However, another part of me feels that when a bank raises the interest rate on a credit card to 27%, they deserve to have it stuck up their bung-hole sideways.

# 50. 1/15/10 11:18 AM by Poplar Beach
Judging by the comments, I am surprised at how many humans still have blinders on. Obama shows them the greedy banks/bankers, they see only what the driver wants them to, nothing to the side, and there is no rear view mirror.

These are the same folks who watch MSNBC, and consider the Daily show & Colbert Report news outlets, so, understandable if they buy into the bank tax on the evil corporations and the Obama can do no wrong hypnotherapy.

Some day they will take the blinders off, look around and find their freedoms gone; it will all be George W. Bush's fault.
