QUOTES FROM MORMON LEADERS

"I do not believe any man should kill animals or birds unless he 'needs' them for food...I think it is wicked for men to thirst in their souls to kill almost everything which possess life. It is wrong, and I have been surprised at prominent men who I have seen whose very souls seemed to be a thirst for the shedding of animal blood. They go off hunting deer, antelope, elk, anything they can find, and what for? 'Just for the fun of it!' I am a firm believer... in the simple words of one of the poets: 'Take not away the life you cannot give, for all things have an equal right to live'." - Joseph F. Smith, 1913

Editor's Note: if you shoot it, you eat it -- that's what we believed where i'm from.

thumbsup.gif I should have been a better listener when Pres Benson was speaking. You look at the things he said years ago and wonder how we got to where we are today. His prophecies have and are coming to fruition.

Who says we don't have modern day Prophets?

thumbsup.gif “A nation can hang itself on the gallows of excessive debt – and the United States is no exception.”

Ezra Taft Benson

Enough said. K.I.S.S.

Prescient prophesy which is proof of pernicious perjury, perilous paradox, and pathetic paradigms of pathetic predatory pagan idolaters.

Federalized fraud by false witnesses of false profits, (false prophets), calumny of corrupted covetousness, adultery of law, assassination of constitutional character, dishonor of the fathers of our country, blasphemy of any faith in reason or thrift, taking God's name in vain through vanity of supremacist banking regulators, and the playing of God, by those ego maniacal bankers of fiduciary monopolies too big to fail. (who charge interest compounded daily and twice on Sunday, and Saturday, at time and a half, on all Sabbaths making all unholy 365/24/7.)

I apologize for the random disjointedness.

Thanx John

thumbsup.gif If either Senator Reid or his son believe what you have quoted Mormon leaders as teaching, how can they possibly be pushing the legislation that they are? For that matter, how many other Mormon congresscritters have ever read this or bothered themselves to listen? Sounds like nobody but the choir is listening.

Thanks Bob. Good wisdom for all. I hope our country can recover from its present course.

"Prayer can seem dull or difficult, though if we give ourselves to it, it commonly ends up less dull and less obstructed than it began. Only what is dull or dark or labored on our side is not so on the side of God, who rejoices in every least motion of our good will towards Him." - Austin Farrer

Hey Bob!!!! Glen Beck asked Caribou Barbie "Who is your favorite Founding Father?" Caribou Barbie said "All Of Them" Reminded me of when Caribou Barbie was asked What Newspapers and Magazines she has read...and she said "All Of Them" She praddled along until she could come up with George Washington. Alaskas gain would definately have been Americas Loss!

Editor's Note: and yet, i trust her gut a lot more than i trust obama's.

# 9. 1/14/10 6:59 AM by Rick
thumbsup.gif Amen, brother.

I'm sure your rabid anti-Mormon respondants will spew their venom. But any reasonably intelligent person should see the chilling truth in every single quotation.

Wise men, all.

# 10. 1/14/10 7:15 AM by Matt - Webster, NY
I would rather hear quotes from brilliant people like Bob Lonsberry!

# 11. 1/14/10 7:31 AM by Roman - Bonita Springs, FL
One of my favorites:

"The young and inexperienced always seem to find just the right combination of ignorance and arrogance to make themselves seem like complete idiots."

Bob Lonsberry

thumbsup.gif Isn't it awesome how an individual can come up with such inspiring thoughts and words? I wonder if there will be some Lonsberry quotes floating around some day. Do you have any words of wisdom that you want to be remembered for?

Editor's Note: "look at the casabas on that chick!"

# 15. 1/14/10 9:29 AM
Look to thine self for inspiration and guidance not to those who seek to advise you hoping to corral you to their knee and becoming your puppetmaster.

Repent Mormons, repent. Return to the only church of Jesus Christ, the Catholics. Stop being misled by religious puppetmasters.

Amen.

# 16. 1/14/10 9:37 AM
LOVE THESE QUOTES!!! Love the pig and the boy one! Ham and bacon and pork chops!! Drooling like Homer Simpson. Hope the the people and animals of Haiti can heal and recover. Boy!, it's going to be a tough long recovery...terrible

# 17. 1/14/10 9:53 AM
Comment on the comments:

Maybe one of the reasons that many people do not like hearing those quotations is because as one of your commenters made after your column:

"There's a "chilling" truth in every single quotation."

Who prays for chilling truth?

Anout your red ink remark saying you trust Palin more than Obama. Bob, need I remind you of that column you wrote excoriating Sarah Palin as an empty-headed faker. She was 100% unacceptable to you in that column.

I say that Sarah Palin should switch her mode of transportaion on her road tours from an RV to a Brinks or Wells Fargo armored truck. She's on a money pick-up schedule same as an armored truck company's route, why not hire them.

Note: How about a column sharing your thoughts on the "move your money" movement that's begun in America. It asks you to move your money out of big banks into smaller, local community banks or credit unions.

Tough to snowshoe in Alabama!

# 19. 1/14/10 10:24 AM by Edward
In case anyone missed it, even Glenn Beck thought Sarah Palin's answer to his question regarding which of the founders was her favorite was "bullcrap."

Will he now be lumped with Ms. Curric as another "perky" one to be avoided? Glenn will curl up and die without the chance to stare lovingly into Sarah's eyes and lust in his heart for her.

# 20. 1/14/10 10:27 AM by CAROLE CHURCH - FAIRVIEW
thumbsup.gif Really Bob, I thought you could come up with a much better quote to be remembered by??? It just doesn't jive with what you send us each morning. Walk the walk brother - and help us all remember to do the same.

Editor's Note: another quote: "off my back, witch."

# 21. 1/14/10 10:32 AM by Nate - Sandy, UT
thumbsup.gif All great quotes, but this one was my favorite: “Yes, we have traveled a long way down the soul-destroying road of socialism. How did it happen? Men of expediency ascended to high political offices by promising what was not theirs to give, and citizens voted them into office in the hopes of receiving what they had not earned. You can, therefore, see how the violation of one commandment – Thou shalt not covet – has weakened our entire system of government and led to a partial loss of liberty.”

Ezra Taft Benson

That's the best and most concise summary of our current political/economic situation I've read so far.

Nice column!

thumbsup.gif Coomrade Lonsberry,

Thank you for these wonderful quotes. I have gained a new level of respect for the men who have led the Mormon Church. Although not Mormon, I can respect the faith and am always impressed by the evangelical side of the religion.

As for Sarah Palin & your comment, I also agree that I'd take her & her judgement vs. what we have today. She's off on a new job now, trying to be a much better looking (& conservative) George Stephanopolis (or as I call him, George Snuffalopogus - his nose is so long from his lying days in the WH under slick Willy).

# 27. 1/14/10 12:27 PM by Al Quiam - USSA
Comrade Lonsberry,

Regarding Hatti and the terrible earthquake. Perhaps after all the rubble has been sifted, the bodies buried, the injured healed, and enough food distributed, our President at that time can send to Hatti multiple ships of US Steel I-Beams so that they can be used to rebuild. I've yet to see one in any of their building construction (and very little re-bar used too). All their construction appears to be much like a house of cards waiting to topple. Sad.

It seems to me that folks like Pat Robertson and Rush prove that God has a sense of humor.

The folks are both offering very non-Christian views of a natural disaster.

WTF folks, no one with the guts to call them out on these outrageous statements?

Sheep.

Four of my favorites...'There is none such well kept slave as one who thinks he's free'..(excuse the paraphrase, please, Goethe), 'Be ye wise as serpents, and harmless as doves' New Testament, Gideon Bible, 'There is no religion in heaven', Ghandi. Sarah Palin loves America!

Obama loves Obama!
